Plasma Studio’s installation in Extension is intended to intensify the spatial experience of the existing gallery. The space is celebrated as a new spatial system challenging our expectations unfolds.
The installation starts from a parametric system of relationships coinciding with specific geometrical points of the gallery space. These points are defined typologically and not through the Cartesian system of the gallery space.
The main structure is comprised of three tensile elements that wander through the gallery. This minimal structure is connected by a series of spatial sections, materialized as translucent triangles that give a rhythmical movement to the whole.
The cinematic experience is heightened by a series of projections which become fragmented as they pass through the segmented triangles. Only particular viewpoints offer a clear view of the images. The geometry of the installation is influenced by an analysis of these views and projection cones. The installation acts as a jig of vectors that are dissecting fields of variant intensities: By the temporal crossing through, virtual and real become indiscernible to the viewer.
The exhibition was sponsored by Extension Gallery, Podmajersky Inc. and Carl Stahl.
